28 week appointment

Went to the the doctor's on Thursday, my mother-in-law went with me because Jordan was out of town. I was really nervous about this visit because the day before I was having tons of contractions, maybe partly because our fridge went out and we had just went grocery shopping and half of what we bought was wasted AND I didn't know what the crap to do because my husband was out of town. I thought for sure she was going to tell me that I was completely effaced BUT when she checked my cervix was 2.16cm!! Not the best number out there but it was for me! She really thinks that the GBS was causing all of this and that the antibiotics I was taking helped. She seemed confident that I would go full term but still wants me on bed rest for now. Good news!!

baby kicks

First part of this she kicks right at my belly button, the rest you really can't see anything. It's really hard to get video of her moving. I think she senses that I am trying to tape her because she will be moving a ton but as soon as I turn on the camera she stops.

not so fun pregnancy

Well where do I begin?? After last mondays episode with my contractions and my cervix thinning out I was put on a different hall at work that is "less stressful" and so I continued to work that week up until this Tuesday when I had a Dr. appt. that I almost didn't make it to due to my midwife needing to reschedule. Luckily my work has been awesome and was able to cover part of my shift so I could go, and boy I'm glad I did! In the span of one week my cervix thinned out from 3.2cm to 1.5cm! When she discovered this she said,"your done working girl, you are on bed rest." She also checked me and my cervix is soft and almost 1 cm dilated. What the heck! I keep trying to tell this little girl it is not time to come out yet, as bad as we want to see her she needs to stay put and keep growing! After some concideration she told me I would need to give myself weekly progesterone shots to reduce the risk of preterm birth(thanks Steph for being so willing to give them to me!) and I had to go to the hospital on two seperate days to get a shot of betamethasone to help develop little Savannah's lungs. I am periodically taking turbutaline when I feel like my contractions are out of control. This drug is sooo much better on me than the procardia. Now I have to see my provider weekly and I go see a Perinatologist next Thursday. Please keep us in your prayers!

my pregnancy scare

This week has been a crazy one to say the least. First, I get some 24 hour stomach bug over the weekend and let me tell you being pregnant AND sick is no fun. I felt horrible. By Monday I was feeling better so I went to work. Well if you know anything about my job it can be very stressful mentally and physically depending on what floor they put you on. Well during my morning med pass I kept having these braxton hicks contractions that I ocassionally get but it just wouldn't go away so I made an appointment for that day to see a doctor. My midwife doesn't work on Monday's so I saw the next available doctor. I went in at two and was there until around four thirty. He checked my cervix and it was measuring around 3.2cm(normal is in the 4's).He also did the fetal fibronectic test to see if I was leaking any fluid, if I was I would have to be on bedrest. He then put me and the baby on a monitor to keep track of contractions and the baby's heart rate. Of course, at this point, the baby is so little that it is hard to pick up her heart beat because she moves so much but my contractions were consistant enough for him to give me a shot of Terbutiline. Talk about scary! I totally started crying. I am 25 weeks and not ready to have this baby. That shot made my heart race and shake all over. He sent me home with a prescription to take if the contractions got bad again. I have only taken that a couple of times. I call it the "evil" pill. It's terrible. Well the good news is the test came back negative for fluid so I was told to take it easy and see how things go. Crazy how things can suddenly change. I am so thankful for the support of my husband. He has been so good to me I don't know what I would do without him.

pregnancy emotions

So this is more of a journal entry than anything but I thought I would go ahead and put it on here. So on Halloween night I was at my in-laws hanging out when someone, a male figure, says to me,"I don't know how to put this lightly, but your getting fat." Now whether he meant it in a bad way or not you don't tell a pregnant girl she is fat.Only a guy would say something so stupid. I ended up going upstairs to talk to my husband about it and just started bawling. Poor Jordan. By this time I just want to go home and bury myself in a pint of icecream, but we had to stay so everyone got to see my red eyes and wonder what the heck was going on. Jordan ended up telling this person that they hurt my feelings and it about killed this person. Well after a while I started feeling better when along comes another male figure, won't name names, and said something along the lines of,"well your sure getting fat." I just lost it right in front of everyone! How embarassing! Man, pregnancy really messes with your emotions for sure. Well, I just have to say that I am so thankful I have a great sister-in-law that made me feel so much better. It is nice to have that kind of support in my life when things don't always seem to go right.
