follow-up appointment

Savannah had her follow-up today on her weight. I was advised last wen. to stop with the breastmilk and start soy formula for about four days. I did that for one day and decided it was too hard on her system so I would breastfeed and then I would bottle feed her milk that I had pumped. Turns out she wasn't getting enough from breastfeeding cause she would gulp down 2 oz after a feeding. So today her weight was 6 lbs. 15 oz! That's 11oz in 6 days! Man I am so glad we figured it out! So now I soley pump and feed her with a bottle. She is a great little eater and is just as cute as a button!

Labor Day! revised AGAIN

I finally have a moment when I can post, although I should be sleeping! On February 16th we had our final appointment with our Dr. to see how I have progressed. I go in and start the usual, pee in a cup, weigh myself and blood pressure. Shockingly my blood pressure was 166/100. I couldnt believe it! So she took it manually and it was 160/88. At this point we needed to make a decision to either go to the hospital or wait a few days. The decision was made, go home pack a bag, get something to eat and then head over to the hospital! I couldn't believe this was happening! I was so scared. We checked in to the hospital that night around 9. Around 10 my pitocin was started. At 2ish my water was broken and epidural started. By 400am I was 9 1/2cm dilated, and by 435am Savannah Marie Beutler came into this world. Her first couple days were pretty rough. She had jaundice pretty bad and had to be put on phototherapy while we were in the hospital and at home. By that following Monday her Dr. gave her a clean bill of health! Now we are just working on getting full feedings and sleeping whenever we can. I never knew I could love someone so much, even though there have been trying times I wouldn't have it any other way. She is having her pictures taken on Friday so as soon as I get them I will post! P.S. Savannah was born Feb 17th at 3:45am 6lb 80z 19 inches long. lost 8oz by day 3 then regained 3 by the following Monday and continues to grow. I weighed her on Friday and she was about 6lb 12oz..
OK so Savannah had her two week appointment today and it turns out she has only gained 1 oz since her last visit which is not good. She only weighs 6lb 4 oz. I had a really hard day because her Dr told me I need to give her formula only for the next five days or so to see how she does. I am still pumping but am sad that her and I aren't sharing that one thing anymore that no other person shared. Hopefully we can figure this out and I can get back to breastfeeding.

37 weeks

Had our 37 week appointment Tuesday, everything looks good. I am dilated to a 3 and he went ahead and stripped my membranes to see if that would get things started. Everyone was anxiously waiting for me to go into labor but nothing happened! I have one more appointment next week then we can schedule an induction. Its down to the wire!!! I can't believe we are going to be parents!

36 weeks

Well another week down!! I can't believe we made it this far, I am so happy. We had our appointment on tuesday and I am about 80% effaced and dilated to a 2. She is also pretty far down in my pelvis so he thinks I will have a good delivery because most first time mom's aren't dilated and such this soon so let's hope it goes smoothly! The baby also looks good. He thinks she weighs about 6 pounds 2 ounces. Here are some recent pictures of my growing self.

34 week appointment

FINALLY a picture of our baby we can really see!! My Dr. office bought new ultrasound machines that are amazing! Todays appointment went very well. Savannah weighs about 5 lbs. 4 oz. and is looking really good. So good that he doesn't want to see me next week like one of my regular weekly visits and wants me to follow-up in two weeks! He did refer me to the vein clinic because I have a lot of swelling in my right ankle/calf and he wanted to rule out a blot clot. Went to that appointment and there is no blot clot just the typical pregnancy induced venous insufficiency:0). The baby is sitting right on my vein and artery that runs down my right leg so this is hindering bloodflow to my foot! Well I have to start wearing compression stockings which is fine with me. SO after that appointment I decided to use my prenatal massage, it was FANTASTIC!!! I can't believe this pregnancy is almost over and soon we will have this precious little baby that is hopefully a great mixture of the two of us.

Boob Man

For family night we decided to go float in the local indoor pool to see if that would relax me at all. We met up with my sis-in-law, her husband and kids. The guys went to the gym to workout while Danielle the kids and I went to the pool. We just kind of hung out in the very shallow end while we watched my nephew play around. After a while Danielle decided to take my 3 year old nephew on the big slide while I stayed behind and held her 7 month old. I held him in my lap facing me, sort of bouncing him around and stuff when I noticed his gaze was fixed not on my face but on my boobs.lol!! He was fixated! He would stare then look up at me then stare again. I was laughing soooo hard. I think his idea was, stare as long as you can and maybe she will get the hint that I am thirsty. He would get so frustrated and start to cry, I felt bad but I obviously have nothing good to offer him, they are only for show at this point little buddy! So funny, he is definately a boob man.

another close call

This past wednesday night I didn't sleep a wink. I contracted the whole night. I figured I had an appointment that following morning so I would see what was going on then. When she did her normal transvaginal ultrasound it showed my cervix as 1.5cm long instead of the 2.5 it was the previous week and the baby's head was really pushing down on my cervix so she decided to "check" me. She said I was about 85% effaced, 1-2cm dilated and the baby was sitting at a +1 station. Not good! She put me on the monitor for a while to watch my contractions and then decided I may be in labor and that I needed to go straight to the hospital. I was so freaked out because my husband had just left that morning to Vegas for business. I called him and told him he needed to come home. In the mean time I had my mother-in-law and my three sister-in-laws right there to support me. During my stay they put me on an IV drip of magnesium sulfate and antibiotics. Let me just say mag sucks! It is so harsh on the body. I was so hot and flushed, heart racing, dizzy, tired, sick, and I was starving cause I hadn't eaten anything and they put me on a clear liquid diet.errr.. After a long day Jordan finally made it and settled in for a long, uncomfortable night. I was so exhausted but couldn't sleep from the discomforts of the mag and the hourly bathroom trips. Jordan and his dad gave me a blessing that night and I prayed I wouldn't have to spend my birthday in the hospital. Finally around 1PM on Friday they sent me home with a new Dr. and heavier meds. Please keep us in your prayers. Little Savannah needs to hang in there just a bit longer. Hey, I at least need to make it to my baby shower!!

31 week appointment

Had my 31 week appointment last night, unfortunately Jordan couldn't come which was ok he has a new calling he couldn't get out of. Everything looks good. Cervix is still measuring 2.6cm which is great for me and baby weighs about 3 pounds 13 oz. She is a very active baby. She just moved around and wiggled the whole time. We watched her making some sucking motions on the ultrasound. Also got to see her cute little face for a brief moment. Time is really flying concidering. Not sure I'm ready for this. I know I am ready for the "no sleep" part of it because I really don't get quality sleep now. The baby was up at five so I just laid there until six and decided to get up and make cinnamon rolls. Anyway that's all for now. We have another appointment next Thursday so until then!
Here is some cool facts about baby:
Baby’s energy is surging, thanks to the formation of white fat deposits beneath the skin. (Have those kicks and jabs to the ribs tipped you off yet?) Baby is also settling into sleep and waking cycles, though -- as you’ve also probably noticed -- they don’t necessarily coincide with your own. Also this month, all five senses are finally functional, and the brain and nervous system are going through major developments.
